On November 29, 2016, the Arab Center Washington DC (ACW) sponsored a talk by Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Qassab titled “The Battle for Mosul: Political Implications for the Next Administration.” Dr. Al-Qassab provided historical context and analyzed the political and military situation in Iraq at present, explaining the motivations of the multiple actors and the power dynamics that continue to influence the serious and volatile situation in Mosul. After the presentation, Dr. Mustafa Gurbuz and Dr. Imad Harb, both non-resident analysts at ACW, discussed the implications for Turkey and the United States, respectively.
